Catharsis

tear

1.

Sometimes

I read my own poems

to cry

2.

Semantics are so much safer

than somatic stillness and remembered experience

words explain pain, narrating what shouldn’t have been

but what happened nonetheless

3.

My head tells me that it’s okay to weep

during sad stories

4.

My heart tells me that stories, even devastating ones, are meant to be shared

5.

I tell my head to stop my heart from remembering

that the stories are mine
